While it would be nice if God downloaded our gifts and potential to our lives like a USB drive transferring everything at once - He doesn't. He reveals our gifts through things like our desires, our interests, and our circumstances. All throughout the new testament we read where those gifts and opportunities can be wasted, buried, ignored, and even stolen.
